HUC-MSCs therapy for Crohn’s disease: efficacy in TNBS-induced colitis in rats and pilot clinical study

The use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has recently emerged as a promising new therapeutic strategy for many diseases including perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease (CD). Whether hUC-MSCs can promote the healing of luminal ulcer in CD has not been studied so far. The model of TNBS-induced colitis in rats was used to confirm the efficacy of hUC-MSCs in the treatment of CD. Then, seventeen CD patients refractory to or unsuitable for currently available therapies were enrolled and received once submucosal local injection through colonoscopy combined with once intravenous drip on the next day. All patients received a 24-week follow-up. Clinical and laboratory assessments were monitored at baseline, week 4, 8, 12, and 24. Endoscopic evaluations were conducted at baseline and week 12. Mucosal specimens were obtained at the margin of lesions by endoscopy biopsies and used for RNA sequencing. Two hUC-MSCs co-culture systems were established invitro, one with the mucosa specimens and the other with M1 macrophages induced from THP1. The expressions of genes representing inflammation (TNFα, IL-6, and IL-1β) and intestinal barrier function (ZO1, CLAUDIN1, and CDH1) were tested by RT-PCR. hUC-MSCs treatment increased body weight and decreased disease activity index (DAI), colon macroscopic damage index (CMDI), and histopathological score (HPS) of rats with TNBS-induced colitis. The results of the clinical study also showed that this mode of hUC-MSCs application was associated with regression of intestinal ulceration. Eight patients (47%) got endoscopic responses (SES-CD improvement of ≥50% from baseline) and three patients (17.65%) got mucosal healing (SES-CD is zero), with a parallel improvement of clinical and laboratory parameters without serious adverse events. RNA sequencing showed hUC-MSCs therapy was associated with an upregulation of transcripts linked to intestinal epithelial barrier integrity and a downregulation of inflammatory signaling pathways in the intestinal mucosa, especially the TNF signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, and TLR signaling pathway. RNA expression of intestinal epithelial tight junction protein (ZO1, CLAUDIN1, and CDH1), and the RNA expression of major intestinal inflammatory factors in CD (IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα, p<0.001 for all) were improved significantly. Moreover, hUC-MSCs could attenuate the polarization of M1 macrophage induced from THP1, thereby decreasing the mRNA expression of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα significantly (p<0.05 for all). TSG-6 expression was evaluated in hUC-MSCs culture supernatant after treatment with TNFα, IFNγ, and LPS for 48h. And hUC-MSCs could inhibit the phosphorylation of JAK/STAT1 in the intestinal mucosa of CD patients. hUC-MSCs transplantation alleviated TNBS-induced colitis in rats. In this pilot clinical study, preliminary data suggested that this approach to administering hUC-MSCs might have potential for clinical efficacy and manageable safety in treating refractory CD, potentially providing hope for better outcomes. No serious adverse events were observed. Research of numerical indicators for the development of the Asselskaya area of Orenburg oil and gas condensate field using the material balance method

The purpose of this work is to analyze and forecast the development indicators of the Assel deposit of Orenburg oil and gas condensate field. To complete this task, a large amount of data is required, which was obtained from the technological development project. The calculation is performed using a program written in the Python programming language. The variables for the material balance equation are given, some of them are calculated using intermediate formulas. The average values of the parameters over the last 15 years of development were chosen as the optimized parameters, since small amounts of cumulative production in the first years of development can lead to a significant error in the calculation of the material balance equation. Also, a comparison was made of the estimated forecast for the development of the Assel deposit with the forecast, according to the state plan, presented in the field development project. The comparison was made on the main parameters: cumulative oil production, annual oil production, oil recovery factor and water cut. For a visual comparison of the calculated parameters, dependency graphs are presented that reflect the forecast made by the material balance method, as well as the forecast based on the data of the state plan. The difference in the behavior of the curves shown on the graphs can be explained by the inaccuracy of the parameters describing the reservoir, as well as the inaccuracy of determining the initial recoverable reserves. This is also affected by the difference in reservoir drawdowns for injection and production wells, proposed in the state plan and in the forecast. Of course, the inaccuracy of the injectivity and productivity coefficients of wells, which were selected based on the estimated volumes of water injection and oil production, also affects. Based on the calculation performed, it can be concluded that it is expedient to further exploit the Asselskaya area of Orenburg oil and gas condensate field with the introduction of a reservoir pressure maintenance system until 2079. According to the forecasts, the water cut equal to 96% will be achieved in 2079, while the oil recovery factor will be 0.427.

WAYS OF COMMERCIALIZATION OF YOUTH STUDENTS' ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECTS AND INCREASING BUSINESS INCUBATOR ACTIVITY IN THE CONDITION OF GIVING FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE TO EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

The article analyzes reforms in providing financial independence to educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and ways to achieve financial support for ideas and projects of young entrepreneurs who graduate from educational institutions. Opinions of foreign and domestic scientists regarding the financing of the business incubator system are given. In addition, information is provided on models of financial support for commercialization of innovative business ideas, scientific and technological development projects and programs of students who are members of universities, technical schools, colleges, vocational schools, monocenters, public and private business incubators, and additional the economic benefits of creating new workplaces are highlighted.

A Framework for the Construction and Tailoring of Engineering Development Process Models

A well-balanced project design using appropriate process models is an important success factor for the management of engineering development projects. There exists a wide range of different process models, including traditional waterfall-based models as well as agile development models like Scrum. Such standardized process models offer a good starting point for the management of engineering development projects; however, they have to be tailored in order to meet the needs of a specific project. Additionally, in complex environments, it might be necessary to construct dedicated process models, like hybrid combinations of several models. In this article, the groundwork for a systematic approach to the construction and tailoring of process models for engineering development projects is presented. It considers relevant international standards as well as traditional and agile process models and can serve as a basis for the subsequent tailoring processes. The developed framework offers the possibility to add distinctive characteristics to a process model, like means which facilitate quality, communication, or knowledge transfer. The evaluation of the framework was done by means of a case study, a survey, and expert interviews.

Justification of the boundary values of open porosity and gas permeability using data from flow studies for porous carbonate reservoirs

This paper proposes a method for determining the boundary values of open porosity (KPO_GR) and gas permeability (KPR_GR) of porous-type carbonate reservoir rocks using the example of Tournaisian deposits of one of the oil fields of the Republic of Tatarstan. When justifying the boundary values, two databases on core studies are used: 1) on standard core studies (used mainly to calculate hydrocarbon (HC) reserves); 2) on special core studies (used for technological development projects). In the proposed method, the residual oil saturation factor is not a constant, but is taken from flow studies or calculated from core dependencies. When determining the lower limits of porosity and permeability from both databases, approximately the same boundary values were obtained: KPO_GR = 0.11 fr. un., KPR_GR = 2·10–3 μm2 and KPR_GR = 1.7·10–3 μm2, but they differ from the values, accepted by petrophysicists when calculating the reserves of considered deposit – KPO_GR = 0.09 fr. un., KPR_GR = 1·10–3 μm2. Such a difference in determining the boundary porosity can significantly affect the calculation of hydrocarbon reserves, technological calculations and field development planning.

Process optimization and reduction of production costs in modern beet sugar manufacturing

Exploding fuel prices and increasing costs for emission certificates motivate sugar manufacturers to invest in new processes to reduce production costs. A critical part of the optimization is, without any doubt, the reduction of steam consumption of the factory, and the minimization of carbon footprint. Technological development projects in the EU and worldwide deal mostly with the i) reduction of steam/electricity consumption and ii) environmentally motivated projects. Environmental protection represents a strong driving force for the optimization and technological development in the sugar branch. The paper summarizes the experience of a long-term development project in two of the best EU beet factories. Unlike conventional sugar factories, one of these plants is already equipped with vapor recompression, thus, suits the trend of using power in sugar manufacture. Some challenging technological improvements have been realized between 2009 and 2022. The experience with optimizing process technology and reducing manufacturing costs is described in detail. Two modification packages are presented in simplified form based on engineering tools used for the optimization tasks. Selected projects are structured in terms of investment costs, from moderate and mid-term improvements to strategic investment. The payback and return on investment play a dominant role in this paper. The most challenging issue is how to reduce the overall energy requirement for the process, concurrently to identify the right technology significantly lowering CO2-emissions, in a financially viable way.

Comparative Analysis of Data Driven Software Tools in Asian Countries: Advancing the Development of Engineering Projects

A number of software tools are developed to improve the quality of the products developed in various fields of life, including engineering. The main purpose of the data-driven software tools the engineers design is to develop products on time with the requirements and specifications given by the customers. The most famous data-driven software tools specialized for engineering projects are AutoCAD, CATIA, Primavera, and ZW3D, which are widely considered good and appropriate tools in Asian countries for working on civil, electrical, and mechanical projects. Each software tool has unique characteristics; some of them are useful for civil engineering projects, while others are good for mechanical and electrical engineering projects. The main objective of conducting this research is to determine the best data-driven engineering tool. In this research, quantitative research methodology through survey techniques is employed for data collection. Data was collected from the already-existing users of the above-mentioned engineering tools. The resultant data is statistically analyzed. The results of the current study show that CATIA is better and preferable in terms of all identified features. However, with respect to robustness, Primavera is found to be slightly higher than CATIA. The results of this study aim to assist engineers, especially in Asian countries, in selecting appropriate tools for their data-driven engineering projects and thus be more effective and efficient in the engineering process.

[Sociotechnical innovations for caring communities : Conditions for success in participatory and integrative technology development].

The increasing need for nursing support in the home environment is accompanied by adecline in the willingness and possibilities for family care (among other things, due to social fragmentation and individualization). New forms of social support networks (caring communities) are therefore needed in which professional players collaborate together with informal caregivers and volunteer helpers. In this context, digitalization can be an instrument that can support the design and coordination of care arrangements for older people at the sociospatial level; however, afundamental prerequisite is that the corresponding technologies are developed in aparticipatory manner and integrated into existing structures. This means not only that the needs and requirements of future users are comprehensively included in the developmental process but also that they become active co-decision makers. Furthermore, the developed technology should be oriented to established care structures and sociospatial conditions. This conceptual contribution addresses these two requirements and uses aconcrete case study from aparticipatory technology development project to show how sociotechnical innovations for and with caring communities can be developed, implemented and made usable in such away that they become sustainably effective.

Development of Research Competences in University Professors: A Bibliographic Review

The research aimed to analyze the contribution of scientific publications regarding the study of the development of research skills in university professors. The bibliographic review and documentary analysis of scientific articles published in different scientific databases were used as a study method. For the theoretical approach regarding the definition, importance and classification of research competences in university professors, the contributions of researchers who have published scientific articles in different databases were used; and for the study of background, the articles published in the Scopus database between 2018 and 2022 were used as a source of information. It was concluded that there are different studies that address the importance of developing their research skills in university teachers, which are associated with the improvement of their professional profile, teaching conditions in the training of professionals and their contribution to increasing the scientific production of universities through the formulation of scientific research and technological development projects and the publication of scientific articles in academic databases.

Systems Engineering in Technology Development

ABSTRACTTechnology development is the crucial first step in designing new products and systems. It is a unique phase of product development in that it incorporates both scientific exploration and reduction to an engineered result. Too often, systems thinking and systems engineering principles aren't applied at this stage, leading to technologies that solve the wrong problems, inability to progress to higher maturity levels, and unworkable implementation architectures. In practice, this means higher development costs, extended timelines, and failed technology development projects. This article presents a framework for and provides guidance on systems engineering activities that add value and improve outcomes if applied during early stages of product development.

Vertically integrated project based method applied to small satellite technology development

Small satellite missions and technology development presents a unique platform for preparing undergraduate engineering students for future careers. University based small satellite projects provide students access to hands-on opportunities to apply theory learned in classes through computational analysis, hardware experimentation, and product design. They also allow students to gain project management skills and see systems engineering and design life cycle from a perspective few semesters long courses and lectures can provide. Since 2017, undergraduates have been involved in the Purdue University team investigating the Film Evaporation MEMS Tunable Array (FEMTA), a novel microthruster that evaporates ultra-pure deionized water to generate thrust and is intended for use as active attitude control on small satellites. This technology development project is well suited for including undergraduates, as the system operation can be easily understood by a student with only an introductory understanding of fluid mechanics. Undergraduates initially investigated single axis rotation control of a model CubeSat and now focus a suborbital payload to test the propellant management system. Undergraduates earn degree credit for aiding the faculty and graduate students in this long-term, multidisciplinary, and vertically-integrated – including students from freshmen to seniors -research project team. Vertically integrating allows students to participate for their entire undergraduate studies, while providing projects with stability and a knowledge base shared amongst many students. While this method can be applied to projects that are not aerospace related, small satellite projects allow students to add a breadth and depth of subject matter to their professional development. This project has included mechanical engineers, aerospace engineers, electrical and computer engineers, and computer science majors. This environment grants students the ability to learn new perspectives and problem-solving techniques from their peers. By requiring students to earn degree credit for project work, students become more invested and develop better professional habits such as proper documentation and communication. Student testimonials have cited this project as an asset while talking with company recruiters and for graduate school applications. The same methods developed on the FEMTA project are also being applied to the Purdue student team that is developing the camera system for the NASA Solar Cruiser mission, with similar success.

Risk Analysis and Innovative Product Management in Rosatom State Corporation: A Case Study of a Green Project Floating Nuclear Thermal Power Plant “Akademik Lomonosov”

Risk management plays a crucial role in ensuring the dynamic development and energy security of the national economy in the nuclear sector.This study focuses on the application of the smart card method for evaluating risks in the energy sector, using the example of a carbon-free energy technology development project at Rosatom State Corporation.The subject of the research is the Floating nuclear thermal power plant “Akademik Lomonosov”, which is designed to provide reliable electricity and heat supply to consumers in the Far North and Far East regions. This project is one of the key directions for developing the new business block in the State Corporation Rosatom.The aim of this study is to evaluate the risk management of innovative projects in the green nuclear sector, with a focus on the Floating nuclear thermal power plant “Akademik Lomonosov”.The authors used the methods of comparative analysis, system analysis, the analysis of statistical data, financial reports, and official documents.The results show that risk management is crucial for ensuring the dynamic innovative development of nuclear energy in the near-, medium- and long-term, and the smart card can be a beneficial tool in this regard.The key conclusion of the study is that the green project Floating nuclear thermal power plant “Akademik Lomonosov” has been successfully prepared for operation, considering most of the key risks. The risk evaluation conducted using the smart card method has demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying and managing risks associated with the project. The authors emphasize the importance of integrating smart cards into risk assessment practices in the nuclear industry and highlight their potential for use in future projects.

Vulnerability Identification and Assessment for Critical Infrastructures in the Energy Sector

Vulnerability identification and assessment is a key process in risk management. While enumerations of vulnerabilities are available, it is challenging to identify vulnerability sets focused on the profiles and roles of specific organizations. To this end, we have employed systematized knowledge and relevant standards (including National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization Resource (NESCOR), ISO/IEC 27005:2018 and National Vulnerability Database (NVD)) to identify a set of 250 vulnerabilities for operators of energy-related critical infrastructures. We have elaborated a “double-mapping” scheme to associate (arbitrarily) categorized assets, with the pool of identified Physical, Cyber and Human/Organizational vulnerabilities. We have designed and implemented an extensible vulnerability identification and assessment framework, allowing historized assessments, based on the CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) scoring mechanism. This framework has been extended to allow modelling of the vulnerabilities and assessments using the Structured Threat Information eXpression (STIX) JSON format, as Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) information, to facilitate information sharing between Electrical Power and Energy Systems (EPES) and to promote collaboration and interoperability scenarios. Vulnerability assessments from the initial analysis of the project in the context of Research and Technology Development (RTD) projects have been statistically processed, offering insights in terms of the assessment’s importance and distribution. The assessments have also been transformed into a dynamic dataset processed to identify and quantify correlation and start the discussion on the interpretation of the way assessments are performed.

[Empowerment or tokenism? Participatory research and technology development with older and old people].

Currently, many research and technology development projects with older people are described as "participatory." This literature-based article highlights patterns in current approaches to participatory research and technology development with older and old people. To this end, various strands of argumentation and historical lines of development are examined as well as the democracy-oriented model and the consumption-oriented approach to participation. This article goes on to set out the opportunities, challenges and criticisms associated with participatory projects. Finally, topics for future research and technology developments with older and old people are named and the questions which should be critically reflected upon when designing aparticipatory project are described.

THE MECHANISM OF MANAGEMENT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES

The digital transformation of industry allows a significant increase in labor productivity and the growth of gross domestic product in the manufacturing sector, which ultimately leads to an increase in the welfare of the country’s citizens. However, to solve the existing systemic problems, such as low labor productivity, irrational use of resources, low efficiency of production facilities, etc., it is necessary to implement an effective management mechanism. The implementation of such a mechanism will solve the problems of managing the digital transformation of industrial enterprises, improve the efficiency of production facilities and reduce transaction costs and the complexity of forming responsible cooperative chains.&#x0D; The purpose is to develop a mechanism for managing the digital transformation of economic activities of industrial enterprises.&#x0D; Methodology in article: the research methodology is based on existing theoretical developments relating to industrial economics, management issues of industrial complexes, industries, enterprises.&#x0D; Results: the mechanism for managing the digital transformation of the economic activities of industrial enterprises, representing a set of methods and tools used to change business models and management processes through new paradigms based on digital thinking, revision of organizational processes and digital culture of the industrial enterprise, optimization of the enterprise management system as a whole.&#x0D; Practical implications: the obtained results can be used in the activities of corporate industrial systems engaged in technological development, digitalization and digital transformation projects.

Research on Analyzing the Efficiency of R&amp;D Projects for Climate Change Response Using DEA–Malmquist

In responding to climate change, the world is focusing on technology development. Korea also continues to invest in R&amp;D to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. However, compared to the government’s continuous investment in R&amp;D, there is a lack of systematic analysis of R&amp;D investment performance. Rather than simply reducing and increasing the investment in R&amp;D to respond to climate change in terms of high and low efficiency, we aim to improve the efficiency of national R&amp;D projects by analyzing the causes of low efficiency and deriving improvement directions. In this study, data envelopment analysis (DEA) was used to analyze the efficiency of climate change response technology development projects conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in Korea. The efficiency of 1500 projects conducted during the 2014–2020 period was analyzed from a static and dynamic perspective, focusing on project information. Through static efficiency analysis, total efficiency (TE), pure technical efficiency (PTE), and scale efficiency (SE) were measured, and the causes of inefficiency were identified. In addition, the results of the dynamic efficiency analysis using the Malmquist analysis were presented, and alternatives for each field were suggested by presenting the static and dynamic results as an integrated model.

Innovation policy in the Norwegian aquaculture industry: Reshaping aquaculture production innovation networks

While aquaculture production in a number of countries has been highly successful in terms of production growth, there is also a number of instances where the rapid growth has been curtailed due to sustainability challenges. In response, fostering sustainable aquaculture production has become a key policy and research agenda. The point of departure for this paper is the radical technological innovations based sustainable restructuring dynamics of the Norwegian salmon farming industry, which despite becoming one of the most profitable aquaculture industries in the world, has in recent years seen its growth curtailed due to sustainability challenges. To address these challenges and to enable the use of new areas currently inaccessible by the incumbent aquaculture technology, the Norwegian authorities launched in 2015 a new type of innovation policy instrument, known as development licences. Based on a mapping of the aquaculture production technology development projects as well as in-depth interviews, this paper elucidates how the targeted innovation policy instrument has instigated the sustainable restructuring process of the Norwegian aquaculture industry. Our findings indicate that in the short term, the innovation policy appears to have succeeded in the reconfiguration, and more precisely, the 'renewal' process of the aquaculture production technology innovation networks (ecosystems) thanks to the entry of the new capable actors into the segment. However, we emphasise that the overall success of the innovation policy instrument will ultimately hinge upon sufficiently addressing certain aspects of the institutional failures in the sector.

Impact of Hydrothermal and Chemical Aging on SCR Storage Characteristics and NO &lt;italic&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/italic&gt; Reduction Performance in an Ultra-Low NO &lt;italic&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/italic&gt; System

&lt;div class="section abstract"&gt;&lt;div class="htmlview paragraph"&gt;This work is a part of medium-duty Low NO&lt;i&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; technology development project with a focus on evaluating a combination of engine and advanced aftertreatment for 0.02 g/bhp-hr NO&lt;i&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; regulation proposed by CARB (California air resource board). In this project, a control oriented chemical kinetics model of SCR (Selective catalytic reduction) was used in the aftertreatment controller that is susceptible to performance degradation due to hydrothermal and chemical aging. This paper focuses on modeling the NO&lt;i&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; conversion and NH3 storage characteristics using a controls oriented SCR plant model which is further used for a model-based urea dosing scheme. A set of steady state reactor tests were used to calibrate the SCR performance at degreened, hydrothermal only and hydrothermal + chemical aging conditions and also to determine inhibition factors related to aging. The resultant model is capable of simulating SCR performance deterioration such as a reduction in NO&lt;i&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; conversion and NH3 storage. A non-linear aging profile was observed for Lo-SCR and downstream SCR showing a change in the NO&lt;i&gt;&lt;sub&gt;x&lt;/sub&gt;&lt;/i&gt; conversion in the aged system when compared to a degreened system. Upon chemical aging further deterioration of low temperature performance was observed. This aging phenomenon impacts the dosing control strategy of the system. The results on controller performance for a set of Heavy Duty Federal Test Protocol(FTP), Ramp Modal Cycle (RMC), and Low Load Cycle (LLC) are presented.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

First report of wildfire disease caused by Pseudomonas amygdali pv. tabaci on perilla in Korea

Perilla (Perilla frutescens) is an important crop which produces edible leaves and oil from its seeds which is used as a seasoning in Korean food (Kim et al., 2009). Perilla is cultivated throughout the year in greenhouses in southern Korea. In November 2020, irregular brown spots with halos that led to necrosis on most upper leaves were observed in Miryang (35°32´04.6˝N; 128°46´01.9˝E) (Figure 1-3). The symptoms were very similar to wildfire disease in soybeans. The disease spread to up to 20–30% of the perilla plants cultivated in two greenhouses. Five diseased plants were collected and the leaves of each plant were removed. To isolate the causal pathogen, supernatants of surface-sterilised and homogenised leaves were plated on King's B medium (Sigma-Aldrich, USA) and incubated at 28°C for two days. Fluorescent colonies occupied approximately 60% of the area covered by bacterial colonies, indicating that a fluorescent bacterium was the predominant isolate from the diseased perilla. One isolate (designated strain MY1) was collected for analyses of 16S rRNA gene sequences and multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) using sequences of the gltA, gyrB, and rpoD genes (Hwang et al., 2005). A BLAST search showed that the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain MY1 (GenBank Accession No. ON810536) corresponded to Pseudomonas amygdali strain DEB with 99% identity. Moreover, strain MY1 was closest to P. amygdali pv. tabaci strain ATCC 11528 in a phylogenetic tree constructed using MLSA (Yun & Kim, 2021) (Figure 4). The physiological and biochemical characteristics of strain MY1 were determined based on levan production, oxidase activity, potato soft rot, arginine dihydrolase activity and tobacco hypersensitive response (LOPAT) tests. In the tests, strain MY1 was positive for levan production and tobacco hypersensitivity, but negative for oxidase activity, potato soft rot and arginine dihydrolase activity. Based on the LOPAT and MLSA analyses, strain MY1 belongs to P. amygdali pv. tabaci 1a (Sun et al., 2021). To substantiate the pathogenicity of strain MY1, a bacterial suspension of the strain (adjusted to 108 CFU/ml) was inoculated onto ten four-week-old perilla and incubated at 28°C. After seven days, the inoculated perilla leaves showed similar symptoms to those observed originally in the greenhouse. Completing Koch's postulates, bacteria with fluorescent colonies were re-isolated from symptomatic tissue and the 16S rRNA sequence of the isolates was identical to P. amygdali. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of wildfire disease caused by P. amygdali pv. tabaci on perilla in Korea and globally. Perilla wildfire disease reduces the quality of leaves, so early detection and prevention are essential to reduce the spread of disease. S.Y. Choi and J.I. Kim contributed equally to this work. International Conference on AeroSpace Science and Technology (ICASST) 2022

1. Introduction Welcome to the publication of the Proceedings of the International Conference on Aerospace Science and Technology (ICASST) 2022, which was hosted at the facilities of Centro de Desarrollo Aeroespacial (CDA), Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), in the historical centre of Mexico City, Mexico, from November 28th to December 02nd, 2022. ICASST 2022 was a scientific forum for the dissemination of basic research and/or technological development projects, which allows interaction between professionals, scholars and industrialists, promoting scientific-technological collaborations in the aerospace field and related areas. The program included presentations, keynote lectures given by widely recognized national and international experts in their area, as well as courses/workshops, particularly intended for undergraduate students. The Conference was held in a hybrid way, face-to-face/virtual. Beside the academic face of this Conference, another fundamental purpose for its celebration is to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Centro de Desarrollo Aeroespacial (CDA) of Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), a research centre focused on carrying out research on theoretical and applied science as well as on technological development, mainly in the institutional and national scenarios at Mexico, in the aerospace sector.
